Heritage Exhibition

Permanent Exhibition in St Edmund's Church, Hargrave.

One of the aims of the project group was to install a permanent exhibition in the North Aisle of the church showing the heritage of our small village over the centuries. This was finally achieved in May 2022 when the fixed display boards were installed and the appropriate lighting positioned to make the most of the display.

Below you can see an overview of what is on display. Please come along to the church and see for yourself how Hargrave has evolved over the years.

The Heritage Exhibition Launch 21st May 2022

The launch event for the Hargrave Heritage Exhibition on 21st May 2022 was a great success. Over 100 people attended through the afternoon, some meeting relatives that they had not met before, with some coming from as far afield as Stoke-On-Trent. All visitors were treated to a Pizza and an Ice Cream and a licensed bar was available to help celebrate the launch.

Peter Reddick, chair of the project, explained how the project to underpin the chancel wall had been undertaken and a display of before and after pictures showed the results. He also spoke of how the Heritage project had been born and the progress that had been made culminating in the permanent Heritage Exhibition in the North isle and the website that was proving popular worldwide.

David Taylor then explained how the Hargrave Heritage Society would be continuing this work, and new members would be encouraged to join the team. A first meeting of the society is planned for 21st July 2022 at 7:30 pm in the Village Hall.
